Community-Based Partnerships

Costa Rica. The Water Security Initiative works with the Texas A&M University Soltis Center and local community-based water providers (called ASADAS) in the shared watershed to advance our service-learning activities.  San Isidro and San Juan ASADAs have partnered with our students and shared their experiences with locally based water governance models.  We will be including the ASADAS in the recently funded NSF-Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) “Ecohydrology of Tropical Montane Forests — Diversity in Science, Interdisciplinary Breadth, and Global Awareness,” in which one research theme is water and communities.
