The Water Security Initiative (WSI) facilitates interdisciplinary research and supports collaboration to address the broad spectrum of water security challenges. We focus on the causes of water insecurity, consequences for society and human well being, and socially equitable solutions to increase the capacity of individuals and communities to flourish during these times of global environmental change.
Our goal is to build a robust interdisciplinary community of researchers at Texas A&M University and create space for collaboration and dialogue. To that end, we support various activities, including research workshops, a speaker series, and service learning and study abroad for undergraduates.
The Water Security Initiative began in July 2016. WSI, supported by the College of Geosciences, is part of the Institute for Sustainable Communities (IfSC) at Texas A&M University, a result of the university’s Environmental Grand Challenge Program. IfSC is a university-level institute that reports to the Texas A&M University Office of the Provost.
